Somerset cidermaker Thatchers has launched a series of short films that will run on demand throughout the spring and summer. As part of its Hot Air Balloon TV campaign, the series of 15sec and 6sec mini ads feature the characters originally introduced in the TV commercial. Martin Thatcher also makes cameo appearances in some of the films.

People will be able to view the comedic series, which was filmed at Thatchers Myrtle Farm, on social channels YouTube, Facebook, Instagram as well as Programmatic VOD.

Each film takes a look at life on Myrtle Farm through the eyes of the TV commercial’s comedic “spokesman” – out in the orchards, and in the local pub featuring interaction with those at the heart of Thatchers cidermaking process, including Martin Thatcher and Chief Cidermaker Richard Johnson. Maintaining the What Cider’s Supposed to Taste Like strapline, the message of the campaign is that the Thatcher Family is utterly uncompromising about the quality of its cider.

Thatchers TV commercial is running throughout the spring and summer, and is currently airing during the Rugby Six Nations.

The full length Hot Air Balloon TV ad was filmed in Somerset last year, featuring beautifully shot scenes of the countryside surrounding Thatchers cider mill at Myrtle Farm.

Thatchers is supporting its brands this year with a major campaign to ensure its ciders remain front of mind with consumers. Alongside TV, the campaign includes outdoor advertising, PR, experiential events and social media and digital campaigns, as well as national events and festivals including GoldCoast OceanFest, and Cambridge Folk Festival.  The Somerset Cidermaker is continuing its relationship with top flight sport, including Bath Ruby, Bristol Sport, and Somerset County Cricket.
