Strictly for the connoisseurs, Rioja wine estate, Marques de Caceres has crafted a limited edition wine, MC, inspired by the passion and tradition of Flamenco high fashion.
Designed in partnership with SIMOF (the Salon Internacional de la Moda Flamenca), the MC bottle celebrates the history shared between winemaking and flamenco. 2018 marks six years between Marques de Caceres and SIMOF, a partnership which combines the expertise, tradition, design and singularity shared by wine and haute couture Flamenco fashion. Each year, fashion designers submit design proposals that are evaluated by a committee of experts – including exhibitors, event organisers and renowned designers – supervised by Cristina Forner, President of Marques de Caceres.
This year, Flamenco fashion designer, Loli Vera has been crowned the winner, whose creative instinct has produced innovative designs. The Seville-born designer says: “My designs are classic in style, but what makes this one special is the use of fringe, lace and especially the polka dots, all of which have been missing in my creations for many years.”
Inside the stylish bottle, the MC Limited Edition is a 2015 new-generation, young, expressive wine made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, selected by hand from 65-90 year-old vineyards, spread over various altitudes (380-550m) in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels, the resulting wine has an intense, dense, dark cherry red colour and a well-defined bouquet of ripe grapes and black forest fruits with floral notes. This fleshy and delicious wine has a pleasant fullness from its tannic structure, enriched by dark berry fruits and toasted notes.
It has a limited production of only 6,200 bottles and has just been released in February 2018.
