ABER FALLS WHISKY DISTILLERY LAUNCHES DEBUT RANGE

Aber Falls Whisky Distillery[1], the first of its kind in North Wales for more than 100 years, has launched its first exceptional range of hand-crafted, premium flavoured gins and liqueurs.

Located at the foot of the famous Aber Falls waterfall in the village of Abergwyngregyn, the 6,000 sqm distillery’s premium crafted products embody the Spirit of North Wales and are made using Welsh-inspired ingredients and botanicals, heralding the area and its natural beauty.

 

The new range, available to buy online next week, includes Orange Marmalade and Rhubarb & Ginger Gin variants, both carrying an RRP of £24 per 70cl bottle, with an ABV of 41.3%. The Salted Toffee, Violet and Coffee & Dark Chocolate Liqueurs carry an RRP of £20 per 70cl bottle, with an ABV ranging between 20.3 % and 20.8%.* Aber Falls’ flagship single-malt whisky, made using the finest Welsh barley and aged at our distillery, will be available from 2020.

 

The brand’s logo and packaging design draw inspiration from the area’s rich heritage and history. Calling on the Wales’ Celtic symbology, Aber Falls has been given its own unique Triquetra, also known as a trinity knot, which adorns the bottle design. The prominent logo also aims torepresent the water from the famous Aber Falls waterfall, referenced as Rhaeadr Fawr across gin and liqueur bottles.

 

Welsh and proud, Aber Falls and its premium portfolio aim to be a keystone in promoting the country at both a national and international level, by putting North Wales firmly on the whisky and spirits map. Plans to open an on-site visitor centre in 2018, which will offer tastings, tours and training courses in the craft of distilling, will add an extra dimension for tourists looking for attractions in the region, driving the distillery as a tourist destination in its own right.

 

Aber Falls has also been creating meaningful partnerships with other regional tourism operators in order to create new experiences for visitors and further support the local economy.

 Aber Falls Rhubarb & Ginger Gin, 41.3% ABV

This gin has been inspired by the warming, homely flavours of rhubarb & ginger crumble, a classic taste that brings back fond memories of Sunday dinners and family gatherings. Subtle spices and tart rhubarb are perfectly balanced with the distinctive pine notes of juniper, warming the palate and finishing with a hint of ginger.

 

Aber Falls Orange Marmalade Gin, 41.3% ABV

Inspired by the Tropical Glasshouse at the Treborth Botanic Gardens, this gin

is bursting with the pine flavour of juniper, a refined balanced sweet and bitter flavours of oranges, with background flavours of marmalade. With a subtle tartness on the palate, this light, delicate gin offers a citrus hit and warming aftertaste. The perfect gin for a refreshing G&T.

 

Aber Falls Violet Liqueur, 20.8% ABV

Drawing inspiration from the distinctive purple blanket of violets which covers the land by the distillery, this liqueur boasts a unique Parma Violet floral base. With a light, delicate flavour and a perfumed finish to contrast the palate, it brings back memories of much-loved confectionary for those with a sweet tooth.

  

Aber Falls Salted Toffee Liqueur, 20.3% ABV

In collaboration with our friends Halen Môn in Anglesey, we have developed a liqueur which pays tribute to the history of sea salt production in North Wales.

Sourced directly from the Menai Strait, the clean, intense notes of Anglesey Sea Salt combine with rich toffee flavour for the perfect combination of salty and sweet.

 

 

Aber Falls Coffee & Dark Chocolate Liqueur, 20.6% ABV

Found growing at the local botanic gardens, this liqueur is inspired by the chocolate orchid. The exquisite flavour combines bitter-sweet cocoa notes, with smooth roasted coffee, for a perfectly balanced liqueur that boasts deliciously rich flavours and a velvety, sweet finish.
